this crazy hike in direct deposit fee's for QB's desktop

I have several clients that I process payroll for that use direct deposit and I have only received one email that states the direct deposit fee is going up from $1.75 to $4 per paycheck and I my email address is used for the admin contact.  An article I found says that it is for enhanced payroll for accountants.  Is there a way or a place that I can look at or in the QB's file that will say "enhanced payroll for accounts"?  Or is there any other way that I can find out if the direct deposit fee is changing?

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you are using QB Desktop Pro Plus, consider switching to QB Desktop Enterprise Gold. You can buy a new license through selected partners to get perpetual discounts for renewals.

I can show another table to compare if you are using QB Desktop Premier Plus.

Thank you for the recommendation.  At this time,  I would just like to know where in the QB's file I can find out if the direct deposit fee is going up.  I don't want to depend on getting an email.

I have all read and printed out what you suggested and it doesn't answer my question.  I have so many QB's files that I process and several different types.  Is there a quick way to find out if the fee is changing without depending on a email?

Hi there, @Lisalu. I understand your frustration about the new price of direct deposit.

I'm here to share some information about changes to QuickBooks Desktop Payroll's direct deposit fee.

The new price for the direct deposit fee will take effect this coming Jan. 8, 2024. With regards to your question, QuickBooks will only send an email notification if there are changes to the fee ahead of time.

With this, I encourage contacting the Payroll Support Team for future updates in payroll. They are available from 6 AM - 6 PM PT (Monday - Friday).

See the steps to get a hold of a specialist:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Help tab at the top menu bar.
  3. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  4. Enter your concern, then hit Continue.
  5. Choose Get a callback.

Additionally, learn how to update the direct deposit bank account for one of your employees by clicking this guide: Change an Employee's Direct Deposit Info.

I am aware of everything everyone is suggesting, but it doesn't answer my question.  It is either a yes with instructions or a no.  Simple as that.  I have about 35 clients I process payroll for, and I don't have time to get on the phone to talk to QB's.  If it was one or two clients, it would be different.    I just want to know if there is an easy way to find out if the payroll service that we use for each file is going up in price on the direct deposit fee.

The issue that I am having is that some of the emails that are in the QB's file set up are no longer active, and unfortunately the client didn't change it.  Therefore, we aren't receiving the emails about the fee increase.  This is why I was wondering if there was a way or a place I could look and see if the fee is being raised on a particular client.

We got blindsided by this as well.  We could not find any e-mail or notification of the rate hike, only @ 150% increase!  Software cost increase about 15% this year!  I guess upper management decided they don't care about the accountants anymore.  We are losing about 1/2 of our payroll clients that do direct deposit as a result of the increase in direct deposit fees.  Priced out out of business.  I guess one of the many other providers out there will be sending Christmas cards to Intuit for all the new business they'll receive this year.  We called, pretty angrily, as we had just been informed by 2 of our clients last month that the fees that came out of their account didn't match what we said they'd be.  Intuit support said, yep, we raised the prices, have a great day!  And then tried to upsell me to accept credit cards.  Not a very cool business model to their customers, us.  We accountants don't have the luxury of jacking up our fees 15% each year to our clients and keep them.  I guess I still have a bit of anger in me at this point.
