Trying to add an employee but can’t get past the start/hire date keeps saying to date is invalid.

Welcome to the Community, @dbgreenslade.

Let me assist you with your concern about adding an employee, but you are unable to proceed due to an invalid start/hire date error message in QuickBooks Online.

To begin we have to make sure that the hire date is not the same as the current date while creating the employee. If the issue persists it's likely that the browser cache is stored for a long period of time already. Which causes the browser to behave strangely. In the meantime, I suggest performing some basic troubleshooting steps. This way, we'll know if you're experiencing a browser-related issue.

Here are the shortcut keys for these browsers:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Clear your cache and refresh website preferences, which may cause issues with QuickBooks Online.

I have attached some articles that may be helpful for managing your employee profile and transactions in the future:

I'll be here to provide more assistance, feel free to reply if you have more concerns with handling your employee in QuickBooks Online. Have a pleasant day!
