I have an employee who is listed twice, one with SSN and the other without. I want to delete the duplicate name, the one without the SSN, but QB is not letting me delete it. I have asked about this previously (1/8) and received several possible solutions - none of which worked. Now they seem to have dropped me thread and I still have the problem. Can someone here help me?

Hello there, JBJIC.

I'll provide further details on how deleting employees works in QuickBooks Desktop. Let me also route you to the right support team to assist you further on this matter so that you can smoothly achieve your goal.

I see you've made multiple posts about this issue with deleting an employee in QuickBooks. As my colleague mentioned, you'll need first to make sure to remove any entries related to the person because eliminating the employee directly is currently unavailable. You can then remove the employee's profile on your end after the process.

However, if you are unable to delete the transaction or still can't remove the employee from the list, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Support Team. They're the best support group for such inquiries as they can request account information. This allows them to access your account and investigate why you can't delete employees in the application.

Here's how:

  1. Press F1 to open the Help window.
  2. From the search icon, type Contact Support.
  3. Click Contact us at the bottom part.
  4. Give a brief description of your issue about deleting employees and click the Search button.
  5. You'll be routed with How to connect with a QuickBooks expert and you choose which one is best for you.

In case you need steps on how to run a report that helps you view your payroll totals, including employee taxes and contributions, you can read this article: Create a payroll summary report in QuickBooks.

You can always count on me if you need a hand with managing employees or any QBDT-related concern, JBJIC. I'm always here to address them for you. Take care always!
