I entered an employee using the 2020 and later w4 and he did not have any federal tax taken out. So i figured i would just go back and change the form to 2020 and before so I could just click Married/3 The arrow is grey and I cannot change to the other form. What can I do to fix this issue?
Thanks
Welcome aboard to the Community, lleadbeater.
Let me help sort this out so you can update the employee's W-4.
Please make sure to use the new W-4 form to make changes for 2020. Go to the 2020 W-4 or later tab, and you should be able to edit the figures from there.
If you're still unable to change it, then I suggest performing some basic troubleshooting steps to help isolate and fix the issue.
You can start with signing into your account through an incognito window. It'll allow you to access QuickBooks without using cookies.

If it works, please proceed with clearing the cache. Too much data can accumulate over time and cause issues when using QuickBooks.

What I need to do is change the 2020 and later back to the 2020 and before tab.
The Fed Tax is not coming out and my employee will owe taxes
Hello, lleadbeater.
I understand you want to go back to the old W4 form to change some information about your employee so that federal taxes can be deducted correctly. I'll provide more information about this.
When you choose the new 2020 form W-4 for your employee, you can't go back to the old form. I know that W-4 is an important part of the Federal Income Tax calculations on your employees' paychecks because it affects their withholding taxes.
If you allow your employees to fill out their W-4 forms, you can disable the Employee self-setup to make changes to their information.
Then, you can go to the Tax withholding section to make some changes to their Federal information.
If you've made some changes and Federal Taxes are still not being deducted, I recommend contacting our Payroll Support Team. They can check your employee setup via screen sharing and assist you in resolving it.
You can also read this article for more information about Federal form W-4: Enter federal Form W-4 in QuickBooks Payroll.
Once everything is in order, you can begin processing payroll with the new withholdings and allowances. You can review the following topics for more information: Help on common payroll topics.
You can add any details below if you need further assistance with Federal Taxes. We're always here to help you.
