The Intuit QuickBooks Payroll for Mac is a web-based payroll application in which updates are done automatically by the system. Though it is a separate item for QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, there isn't a need to launch any updates. We implement them for you to ensure we comply with the tax and return regulations set by the tax agencies.

I'm here to guide you through the whole process of transferring data from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows to Mac. The following steps below will help you convert your Windows company file to a Mac file.
Once done, you can restore the file using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. Please follow the steps below to learn how:
Here's an article that outlines a detailed steps on how to convert your Windows company file to a Mac file: QuickBooks Desktop Windows to QuickBooks Desktop Mac.
On the other note, payroll data from windows will not be converted to QuickBooks for Mac since it does not have internal payroll. You can check out this article for a list of data that cannot be converted from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows to Mac: Data that isn't converted from Windows to Mac.
To transfer payroll information from windows to mac, you can enter historical payroll data. You can refer to this article for a step by step guide: Enter historical payroll data in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.
That should be all you need. Please know that I'm only a post away if you have any follow-up questions about the process. Take care and have a great rest of the day.
