What can I do to resolve a mileage data missing issue? My "Miles" data is completely gone from 1/1/2023 through 2/3/2024. Thanks!

My main goal is to ensure you can retrieve your mileage data so your vehicle deduction is calculated accurately, scarter29. Allow me to provide insights about this matter and help you resolve this.

Once you turn on the auto-tracking feature on QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) and start recording your miles, the program will automatically save your trips.

One possible reason why the data from January 1, 2023, to February 3, 2024, are missing could be a cache-related issue. Excessive stored cache on the browser you regularly use can cause a program's performance and functionality problems.

To rectify this, I recommend accessing your QBSE account via a private window. It doesn't keep any browsing history and uses a cache, which is a good place to verify its exact cause. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Once signed in, go to Miles and customize the date to view the data. If they show,  clear the browser's cache. Doing so improves system performance, fixes program problems, and frees storage space. Using other supported browsers also helps us determine if this is a browser-specific problem.

In case you're using the mobile application version, make sure the app is updated to the latest release. It could be the cause of why the miles are missing. I suggest following the steps below to install it:

Android:

  1. On your phone, access the Google Play Store app.
  2. Tap your Profile icon. Then, select Manage apps & device.
  3. Choose the Manage tab.
  4. Click the Updates available filter.
  5. Find and select the QBSE app, then hit the Update icon.

iOS:

  1. Go to the App Store.
  2. Click the Today tab, then choose Profile.
  3. Look for the app in the Available Updates section.
  4. Hit Update.

Once done, check if you can view your mileage record. If the same thing happens, uninstall and reinstall the app. It resolves any issues and restores the connection between your device and your account. Alternatively, access the program via a web browser to see the miles.

If the trips are still missing, you may consider adding them manually to the program.

I'm all ears if you have concerns regarding mileage tracking. If you have other questions about running reports and managing entries, let me know, and I'll be here to help.
