What's the best way to set up an international contractor in quickbooks? Vendor or Contractor and is 1099 still needed if they aren't connected to USA in any form?

Hi,

I'm struggling to keep track of payroll as my company is growing. The entire team is based in the Philippines, none of them are US citizens or tied to the US in anyway. Some work on an hourly basis and some work on a per month basis. What is the best way for me to set up and record their work in quickbooks.

I use remitly and paypal to pay them so I'm looking for a way to keep track of their work and better understand my past payments more. I don't need to pay them through quickbooks.

Thank You!

We have a few clients in the US similar with your case. They have been using the following apps to manage their operations in Asia countries:

* Using this time tracker app to integrate with QBO

http:// try.hbstf.co/32nwNr

* then the app will integrate with QBO and other required apps

- Payment: Paypal, TW

I just wanted to mention how your reply to this user was not helpful at all. You should read the question carefully before offering advise.

Hi there, Mashruh. I'll chime into this thread to provide information about setting up an international contractor in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The QBO Payroll system does not support employees outside of the United States. Therefore, you'll have to use a third-party app to manage your international employees efficiently.

Moreover, you can enter your payroll paychecks into the QBO program manually. This will help you keep track of your payment totals within the program. However, please note that this method does not generate the necessary data for your employees' W-2s or contractors' 1099s. To learn more about this process, please refer to the following article: Manually enter payroll paychecks in QuickBooks Online.

It is also best to contact the IRS to determine the necessary forms for filing taxes for international employees. You can go through this link to reach out to them: Contact IRS.

Additionally, you can visit this article to provide a detailed breakdown of your employees' wages, deductions, and tax information for a specific period: Run payroll reports.

Please let me know by commenting below if you have any other concerns with managing your payroll entries. I'm always here to assist you.

@Mashruh

Thank you for commenting on my old 2020 post and I have a new suggestion for you. You can signup for a separate Melio account for free to integrate with QBO and manage your bill payments to international vendors. The flat fee is $20 per transactions.
