Hello, @JVTIII.
I'm here to help export your payroll transactions from QuickBooks Online Payroll (QBOP).
The ability to export payroll transactions from QBOP to Sage 50/Peachtree is currently unavailable.
While we don't have a specific timeline yet, you can pull up a payroll report and export it to Excel as a workaround. Here's how to do it:
You can also check out this article to see the available payroll reports that you can use: Run payroll reports.
Feel free to post a comment below if you have any follow-up questions about exporting payroll data to another software. I'll be happy to answer them. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you for your reply. Your recommendation, however, is not a solution especially when you consider that I have two companies for which I run payroll. No one current payroll report contains all of the information needed to import transactions in to Peachtree and reformatting a report to be useable for import will require significant manual effort each pay period.
I did not ask to be moved from Intuit Online Payroll (IOP) to QBOP but was required to move. As announced in an email on June 1, 2021: "We are retiring Intuit Online Payroll and moving you to a better payroll service — more modern, with more features, and better ongoing development support." The expectation set by this statement is that, at a minimum, existing IOP functionality will be available in the new system. To then say that a core function upon which I have relied for the past 10 years is not available (and that it is unknown as to when it will be available) is a significant failure to meet that expectation and a failure to support your customer base.
How do I get this issue escalated within the support organization in the hope of getting this resolved as soon as possible?
Bumping this for a reply. The next payroll run is coming up at the end of this week and need the ability to export the payroll transactions.
Hello there, JVTIII.
I can share a way on how you can export your transactions from QuickBooks.
If you are using our Standalone Online Payroll Product, you are able to export your payroll transactions downloadable IIF (Intuit Interchange Format) file.
Let me show you how to set up your export preferences:
To start exporting, you can follow these steps:
If you need to export tax payments or paychecks individually you can click here for the detailed steps. Now, you can import the file you just exported to Sage 50/Peachtree.
We also have payroll reports available where you can run and use as reference after importing your transactions.
Keep me posted on how this works so I can take it from there. I'd be glad to help. Take care and keep safe!
Hello Cahterine_B,
Thank you for your reply. I followed the steps you outlined and generated an iif file which I then converted to a csv file. Unfortunately, this is an incomplete and unacceptable solution as it is no where near equivalent to the file previously produced by IOP or capable of being produced by QBOP. Please see the attached reference file in the required format (in pdf format since a csv file cannot be attached, sanitized and truncated for presentation here). I know this file can be generated from QBOP because a QuickBooks agent exported it for me after the last payroll run. Please refer to Case [removed].
Converting the iif file to the format required by Peachtree will require significant extra personnel time each payroll period. This is unacceptable and no where near the expectation set by QuickBooks when communicating the switch from IOP to QBOP.
Once again, I ask that this issue be escalated and that I be given a timeframe for when I will be able to generate these exports in the correct format.
Thank you.
I'm here to share some details about exporting payroll data in QuickBooks Online Payroll, JVTIII.
When moving your payroll data, you can do this by exporting them as a report via Excel. As for CSV, you can reach out to our QuickBooks Support Team to help you with the process. They're equipped with tools to convert your file.
To export your data as a report, I'd recommend following these steps:
If you'd like assistance from our support team, please see these steps to reach out to them.
Additionally, I encourage marking your payroll reports as your favorite. With this, you can easily access them as they'll show up in the Favorites section.
If you'll need assistance in dealing with payroll tasks, don't hesitate to get back on this thread. We're always here to help you out.
To the QuickBooks Support Team:
Please cease directing me to the payroll reports. As I am sure you are aware, the canned reports are neither in the format nor contain the data (such as GL account numbers and values as positive or negative for debits and credits) necessary for importing payroll transactions into Peachtree (or any third-party accounting system for that matter). Only the 'Export to accounting' function provides that. Please also cease giving me canned answers and please respond directly to the issue.
This back-and-forth with little new information is becoming frustrating. If I cannot get this issue escalated, then please assign it to a single person so we can have a constructive conversation that does not consist of the reiteration of recommendations that do not provide a useful solution.
Thank you.
