Before we begin, what QuickBooks version are you using? Are you using QuickBooks Self-Employed? If so, payroll expense tracking is unavailable in this version.
If you're using QuickBooks Online, they are recorded in your payroll expense accounts. Let me guide you where to find them.
- Go to Gear, then Payroll Settings.
- Click the Accounting link under Preferences.
- Hit OK. See attached screenshots below.
Once done, you'll see the accounts for your wage expense, company contributions, and tax expense. You can also view the accounts of your payroll liabilities on this page.
