Why is my Income showing up as Other Fees. That didn't happen last year. How can I correct this before it becomes a nightmare during next year's tax time? Thanks!

Hi there, waybackwins-gmai.

Let me help you with your concern.

What you experience in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) is weird, and it should be fixed by clearing the browser's cache

Also, make sure to use an income account in when you categorize your transactions.

I've also added these links that you can use for reference in managing your transaction:

Keep me posted if you have any additional concerns with your QuickBooks account. Have a good day!

Hi AileneA!

Thank you so much for your reply!  I did clear my cookies and nothing has changed.  I only cleared 4 weeks worth to cover the new year.  I am attaching in this message, how my income looked on 12/14/21 vs. 01/11/22 (today).  I would love to see it changed back to 12/14/21.  I don't know if this is an Etsy issue or a QB's issue, but I can foresee lots of issues ahead if it's not corrected.  Thanks for any assistance that you can provide.

Renee

Hello waybackwins-gmai!

Thanks for the reply. Allow me to assist you in categorizing the Etsy transactions.

The way you connect and categorize transactions from Etsy is the same way with the banks and credit card accounts. You'll want to update the category selected for this transaction to correct it.

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. Find the entry from Etsy.
  3. Select the hyperlinked category under the CATEGORY AND TAGS column and change it to the Income category.

You can check this article for more details on how to categorize the transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed: Categorize transactions.

Also, here are the links if you need detailed steps on how to send your data to TurboTax:

Leave a comment again here if you have more concerns. Take care always!

I just spent a couple hours trying to figure out this same problem.  Turned out, it was easier to fix than I expected (once I figured it out).

When you set up your "items" that you use for your invoices, make sure that they are associated with an "income" account.  For example, if you just put in "sales" as your account, QB will automatically make this an expense account.  If you name your account "sales income," then QB makes it an income account and it shows up as income on your P&L.

If you pull up your "items" list, you can double click on each item to change the account that it is associated with.  Click "yes" in the dialog box that pops up, and it will update all of your current and past transactions.   This should correct your P&L's for the current and past years.

 Hope this helps!
