Should WA Cares Deductions show in box 14 of the W2

My Washington employees had deductions for the WA - Cares Fund and WA - Paid Family Medical Leave Acts. Deductions for WA-PFML are showing in Box 14 on the W2, but WA - Cares Fund are not.

  • Shouldn't WA - Cares Fund Deductions show in Box 14?
    • If yes,
      • How do I do this? Or do I need to hand enter them?

Should WA Cares Deductions show in box 14 of the W2

I'll share some insights about the plans that are reported in box 14 of the W2 form in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @KSchadel.

Please know that WA Cares Deduction is not reported in box 14 of the W2 form. This type of payroll tax will be recorded in the employee's W-2 if your state requires it. I'd suggest consulting a tax advisor. They can provide you with ways how you can record or set this up in QuickBooks so you stay compliant with the government.

You can locate more information on this in the following resources:

If you require more information about the employees' W-2 or anything about payroll tax, leave a comment below. I'd be happy to help and provide you with additional insights.

Your reply provided no direction and the link you provided doesn't talk about what my question was regarding. My tax advisor seems to think that it can go in box 14, which is contrary to what you're saying.
