Accountant edition instead of Enterprise Edition

Im trying to upgrade from QB enterprise manufacturing and wholesale 17 to version 19...   I have downloaded the install file from the website and downloaded from the site quickbooks support sent me to.    I hit the drop down to install enterprise (not accountant).    I install and it still shows accountant edition.   I got back with support and they said I should only have to toggle the edition from the file menu.   I did that and it switches to enterprise manufacturing and wholesale (via acountant).   If I close QB and re-open, it goes back to just accountant edition.

I even tried downloading the accountant edition from the website in case maybe the links on the website were wrong.   Both install the accountant edition.   Support is now closed for the day so Im reaching out here for help.

Hi there, Richard.

Let's do a clean install of your QuickBooks Enterprise to make sure that it would no longer show as the Accountant edition. It's quite different from the usual installation process because you'll have to manually rename the installation folder to prevent QuickBooks from using the same installation folder.

First, uninstall or remove QuickBooks Accountant from your computer.

Second, rename the installation folders. Here's how:

  1. Follow the steps to display hidden files.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu. Then, search for “File Explorer”, then open File Explorer.
  3. Find and open the folder that holds your QuickBooks company files. This is usually your QuickBooks folder. It's usually in one of these locations:
    1. C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
    2. C:\Users\(current user)\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
    3. C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
    4. 64-bit version C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks (year)
  4. Right-click the folder and select Rename.
  5. Add the word "old" at the end of the folder name. This prevents QuickBooks from trying to open it when you reinstall.

Third, download the installer from this link and make sure to select Enterprise: https://downloads.quickbooks.com/app/qbdt/products.

Lastly, proceed to the usual installation process and make sure to enter the correct license and product code for Enterprise. You can get this info from your account management portal

Yes, I select 19, hit drop down for enterprise and download.   THe installation file is 711948 kb in size.   I run and it wants to install accountant.

Could the product number affect which version installs even though I dont select accountant?   I gave support my license # and they provided me the product number because its not listed under my account for some reason.   But they show that I have an active subscription.

No luck.  It does the same for a fresh install on a computer that didnt have QB on at all.

The license has something to do with the QuickBooks edition, Richard.

It's quite unusual that you don't see the license and product numbers under your account. Normally, we would let our clients check them in the portal that Jeno said.

I know that you wanted to convert your file right now. However, our best bet for this case is to contact our Support again on Monday, 6 AM-6 PM PT. I think the license you have is for QuickBooks Enterprise Accountant Edition, that's why you said it wants to install that one.

Once you get the right edition, you can convert your file.

Feel free to share some news about this scenario. Good night!

It ended up being a problem with our account.   We had to repurchase (at no cost) so our license could move over to the correct version.   Thanks for the suggestions
