Can't share my QB files folder with other workstations.

Upgrading to new computers. We have 7 computers on our workgroup (No Domain). I want only 3 computers to have access to the Quickbooks files folder on our "main" computer. Our previous setup was insecure and allowed anyone on the network to access the QB folder/files (YIKES!)

I have made numerous attempts at sharing without success unless I open it to "everyone".

How do I configure it so that my main computer’s share (Quickbooks working file) is secure and only accessible by the two other computers?

Or does QB enterprise automatically setup permissions when installed?

Can't share my QB files folder with other workstations.

Configuring device accessibility for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Enterprise needs manual setup, SpuddedMuffin. Allow me to go into details so you can handle this accordingly.

Given your situation, the Peer-to-Peer network works best for you. Setting it up requires complex technical skills. That said, I recommend seeking assistance from your IT personnel to help you with the process.

In this network, you'll have to install QBDT only to the working stations you wish to allow access to. With this, a host device (PC) needs to be selected and installed with QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

To guide you with the steps, please check and review this link: Install QuickBooks Desktop. It lays complete information on installing and establishing your working stations.

I'm also adding this article to help you commence with your QBDT company file: Get started with QuickBooks Desktop. This way, you're fully guided on what tasks you need to accomplish after installing your QBDT company.
