Can I open a 2020 premier manufacturing PC desktop company file with Quickbooks for mac desktop version? I'm thinking of purchasing a mac version for my laptop but don't want to if I can convert my current company file to a mac version.

Before you start, let's ensure that you’re familiar with what data is converted from QuickBooks for Windows to QuickBooks for Mac. Also, let's ensure that you're QuickBooks Desktop Windows has the latest release for up-to-date fixes and features. 

 

Here's how to update:

  1. Open your company file. 
  2. From the Help menu, select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Click the Update Now tab.
  4. Select Get Updates
  5. Wait until the update finishes. Then, click Close.

Then, you can follow through the detailed steps on this article on how to open or convert your QuickBooks for Windows file in QuickBooks for Mac. It also has a section where you can see which data are converted and not.
