Converting from Enterprise Contractor 18.0 to Online Advance and I have 400,750 targets

Converting from Enterprise Contractor 18.0 to Online Advance and I have 400,750 targets. Should I use the Condense Data utility or is there a better way to remove targets? Anyone have suggestions on the best way to move my data over? I want to maintain my transactions. I've read the help topics and I'm still unsure. Condense your QuickBooks Desktop file for import to QuickBooks Online

Hello there, LaurenHEI,

You'll want to use the condense your QuickBooks Desktop data for a QuickBooks Online import. With the number of targets you have, you will be prompted to do so.

Here's how:

  1. From the QuickBooks File menu, select Utilities and then Condense Data.
  2. Select Yes to the message Budget data may be moved during cleanup. Do you want to continue anyway?
  3. In the Condense Data window, select Transactions before a specific date.
  4. Use the Date field to select a date. QuickBooks will remove closed transactions on or before the date you choose.Note: If you track inventory, it’s best to make the date the last day of the month. That way, your average cost for items will remain correct.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Select a method to summarize the transactions you're removing then Next. If you're not sure, select Help me choose.
  7. (Optional) Select any of the checkboxes for the dialog boxes that follow then select Next.
  8. Select Begin Condense.

Is it better to upgrade from Enterprise 2018 to 2019 before converting to online advanced?

There's no need to upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop subscription, @LaurenHEI.

Moving data files are supported to all versions in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Although, the advantage of upgrading its version is that you'll have access to its latest available feature.

You can check out this article about what to expect when you switch from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online. This will provide the information about what data file that can't be converted when you migrate from QBDT to QBO.

I'm always here to help if you have any other concerns or questions. Just tag my name in the comment section and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
