Converting to new QB on new computer

I have QB Accountant 2012 on my old computer. Backed up all five companies. Have QB 2015 on my new computer. I converted one company with no issues. When I tried to restore the next company, it told me there was an error and to close the current company. There is nothing open. It looks like it's tring to revert back to the first company file. How do I restore all 5 companies?

Converting to new QB on new computer

Good day, @bogwood.

I'd be glad to share with you some troubleshooting steps to help restore your company files to your new computer.

To start, let's remove any special characters ( / \ ! $ ) from your company file name. Locate your company file, right-click on the file name, select Rename, and create a new file name without any special characters. If you need help finding your file, you can refer to this article: Display hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows.

Additionally, ensure that you don't overwrite an existing file when restoring your backup. When prompted to choose where to save your file, navigate to your standard file-saving location. If the file name matches another file in the folder, you'll receive a message: "The file name exists. Would you like to overwrite this file?" Simply select No and give the file a different name.

If the issue persists, you can proceed to solution 3, 4, 5, and 6 in this article: Get help with Error: Failed or Error: Restore Failed.

Please keep me updated on the results of these troubleshooting steps. I want to ensure that you can successfully restore your company file. Have a great day!

@bogwood

Restart your QBD 2015 and try to restore the second backup file. Did you encounter the same problem?
