I understand the importance of having a smooth experience when importing files to finish taxes, @mcsolas. No worries. We can work on this together to fix this issue.

To start with, we can check if the data is in the correct format. If so, in addition to what @4Gal said, I'd suggest performing basic troubleshooting to determine if the issue is related to your browser. We can open an incognito window to prevent your browsing history from being saved.

You can use the following keyboard shortcuts based on what type of browser you're using:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it works fine from there, we can go back to the regular browser and clear your cache. On the other hand, if the issue persists, you may use an alternative browser to access your QuickBooks Online account.

Furthermore, you'll want to check this article as a reference to get ready to file your taxes with QuickBooks Self-Employed: QuickBooks Self-Employed annual tax guide.

I think it was having trouble with the file. Oddly the file upload started working after a few tries. It was able to show me the list of items correctly in the next screen before it finally imports them. However, there was a second issue I found, which was that inside the CSV files, the values had prefixed spaces in front of the items. I used find and replace to sort that out and the imports worked after that. Thanks for taking a look at this.

It would be easy to improve the resiliency of this feature by adding a adding a Trim() function to parser that reads the incoming data.
