You don't have to purchase a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) subscription again, @bcar9. Just make sure that your product and license info are ready.
Since the hard disk drive of the previous computer crashed, you can't use the Migrator Tool. However, you can manually reinstall QBDT without using the tool. Let me walk you through:
- Download QBDT to the new computer.
- Have your product and license info available. Review the details on how to find QBDT license info. You can also see How do I find my license and product numbers? in the FAQs section of this article: Download QuickBooks Desktop.
- Download the installation files or insert the CD on the computer where you want QBDT installed.
- Install QuickBooks Desktop as you normally would.
- Since you moved your installation to another computer, you'll have to register again by going to the Help menu and selecting Register QuickBooks.
Moreover, please note that it doesn't move your company files from the previous computer as they must be copied to the new location separately. Here's an article for the complete process: Move your company files to another computer.
Additionally, if you have created a backup copy of your company file, you can simply restore it to the new computer to reinstate your accounting data back to the program.
