prior to purchasing QB 2020 desktop version, my whole QB program was on my laptop. I would do my backups on an external hard drive.

I don't know if I made a mistake along the way but now my QB program is on an external hard drive, its a bit annoying moving the hard drive around with my laptop ( it is not a thumb drive).

Also I have forgotten my password and I have to go through an online reset with a code sent from QB.

Before it was something I could handle in house. I did not need to be connected to the internet.

QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) allows you to use an external device or a hosting service when backing up your company file. However, when you're trying to restore it, you'll need to move it to your local hard drive first. I understand that it's another process. However, it's how QBDT works when restoring a backup file to avoid errors.

So sorry, I had a heck of a time to find my way back here. I was the first time I reached out for help so it took me a while. Thank you for your time and help.

I understand what you are writing but it was really not what I wanted to hear. :-))

I guess the older version I had, 2017 I think, could do that. So I have to get used to it.

I do have an issue regarding entering inventory, can I ask you about that?

In regards to your concern in entering inventory to your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software, can you share with me more details about it? This way, I’ll be able to provide you the right fix for it. Any additional information is appreciated.

 

If you’re referring to adjusting your inventory quantity, we’ll need to create an adjustment account before we can make any changes. Let me guide you how:

 

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click the Account drop-down menu, then select New.
  4. From the Other Account Types drop-down, select Cost of Goods Sold.
  5. Name this account “Inventory Adjustments”, and then click Save and Close.
