Hello there, Bob.
When you restore a company file, QuickBooks uses the backup company file (.qbb) to create a new one (.qbw). You can search the .QBB file type to restore it to your computer. Aside from that, if your backup company file is on an external device like a USB or a hosting service, you'll need to move it to your local hard drive first.
Let me show you how to restore a company file:
- Open the QuickBooks Desktop software.
- From the File menu, select Open or Restore Company.
- Click Restore a backup copy and then Next.
- Select Local Backup. Click Next.
- Browse your computer for your backup company file that looks like [Your company name].qbb.
- Select a folder where to save your restored company file. Then select Open.
- When you're ready, select Save and follow the onscreen instructions.
If you get the same thing we can run the systems file doctor to get rid of unexpected behaviors. Please click here for more details on how to do run it: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.
