QB Desktop 2022 recent update caused us to loose permissions on server

We have a Windows 2022 server as our Database Server and we recently updated our Quickbooks Desktop 2022 and afterwards we have lost the ability to open the company file from a network workstations. We are able to open it fine on the server but the workstations say we don't have the proper permissions. We are able to create and delete files and folders on the Database server share just fine. ????

QB Desktop 2022 recent update caused us to loose permissions on server

Thank you for posting here in the Community forum, bribow. Let's perform some troubleshooting steps to permit users again to access the folder.

The sharing of folder may have been stopped after updating QuickBooks. To check and fix this, you can enable again the access. Here's how:

  1. Locate the folder you want to stop sharing.
  2. From here, you can do any of the following:
    • Right-click the folder, select Give access to, then Remove Access.
    • Click the folder, then the Share tab at the top of File Explorer. Then, in the Share with section, select Remove access.
  3. Close the File Explorer.

Once done, check your firewall and antivirus permissions. Make sure you give the Database Server Manager permission to run on your server computer.

Your next thing to do is use Database Server Manager. Learn how to scan your company files so you can host them over your network.

Since you've recently updated QuickBooks, find out what's new and improved functions through this article: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

Feel free to come back if you have any other concerns. I'll stay around until you're able to successfully open the company file from a network workstation. Have a wonderful Friday!
