QBPOS 19 Transfer for one computer to another

Let's uninstall QuickBooks Point of Sale so you can install it on the new computer. I'm here to guide you through the steps.

Before proceeding, create a backup  of your Point of Sale data, save any files you have open, and exit all programs. Once done, you can start uninstalling the system. Here's how:

1. On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R to open the Run command. Then enter Control Panel and select OK.
2. Select the View by dropdown and select Small icons. Then select Programs and Features.
3. Right-click QuickBooks Point of Sale XX and select Uninstall. (XX represents the version of your QuickBooks Point of Sale.)
4. If a User Account Control window displays, select Continue and follow through the program removal.
5. Once complete, rename the following folders:
   • QuickBooks Point of Sale XX folder. The default location is C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale XX.
   • C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale XX folder.
   • QBPOSDBSrvUser folder located in C:\Users.
6. Remove the QBPOSDBSrvUser Windows login:
   1. On your keyboard, press Windows key + R to open the Run command.
   2. Select User Accounts.
   3. Select Manage another account and select Continue on the User Account Control window.
   4. Select QBPOSDBSrvUser and select Delete the account.
   5. Confirm the deletion and then close all open windows.

Once done, restart the computer. From there, you can install the QuickBooks Point of Sale system on the new computer.

Can it be "turned off" from the original computer then turned on the new computer prior to deleting? I don't want to take the chance of losing anything just in case it doesn't work. I need to have it on at least one computer. Can I try the multiuser mode? 

Let me share some information regarding transferring your data to another computer device, Digidesign. 

When it comes to moving your information from one device to another, you can use the Migrator Tool. As you use this, you'll need to be the Company Admin. You'll need to create a backup file first  to ensure that all of the data is transferred to the new device since there might be instances in which not all of your data will be downloaded in your new device. 

As you move your info to the new device, you'll need to have a USB inserted into the old device, copy the QuickBooks Data, and enter a one-time password. Make sure to write down this password since this will be used as you move your data. After copying the information, plug in the USB on your computer and enter your one-time password. As you put the USB flash drive to the new device, the migrator tool will do the technical work such as automatically downloading, installing, and activating QuickBooks.

Follow these steps: 

Step 1: On the old computer

1. Go to the File menu then select Utilities. 
2. Click Move QuickBooks to another computer.
3. Press I'm Ready, then create a one-time password. 
4. Follow the instructions to choose the USB flash drive you’ll use. Then wait for the files to be copied.

Step 2: On the new computer

1. Insert the USB flash drive. Due to Windows security restrictions, the Migrator Tool won’t automatically open.
2. Open the flash drive to view its files and double-click the file Move_QuickBooks.bat to start the migrator.
3. Enter the password you created, then hit Let's Go.
4. Wait for the Migrator Tool to finish. Know that this will depend on the speed of your computer and internet and the size of your company file(s).

When you're done, the migrator tool will automatically remove the files from your USB drive. No worries since your data will remain on your old computer. However, it's best to rename your file to avoid using the wrong file.

Please know that using the multi-user mode depends if you have a license where it allows multiple users. Using the muti-user mode indeed helps you log in to a company file on different computers at the same time. On the other hand, if you currently have a single-user mode, it limits the access to your company file to one person at a time.
