Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022 Update Error 15222

We are running QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022, R11_9
Problem: Receiving Error #15222 when trying to Update on the “Major Upgrade” update only. All other updates process as they should. This has been ongoing for a few months now.

Hardware is a Surface Pro Laptop Go 2 and Surface Pro 7 running Windows 11 Pro version 22H2, fully patched/updated.

Things that have been done:
* Followed ALL Guidance in Intuit Article: QB Article
* Attempted Update from Office, Home and Mobile Hotspot separately to eliminate a possible top of network firewall issue.
* Disabled AV/Malware Tools on the PC
* Disabled Computer Firewall (Defender and Third-Party)
* Have completely uninstalled and reinstalled several times as well as installing into a different directory path from default to ensure the registry was updated
* Tried updating the updates using “run as administrator”
* The User is a Local Administrator
* Tried updating under the Local Administrator Windows Profile to confirm it was not a profile issue.
* Using the Quickbooks Tool Hub (version 1.6.0.3)
     * Ran Quick Fix my Files, then attempted update with same error
     * Ran Quickbooks File Doctor, then attempted update with same error
     * Ran Quick Fix my Program, then attempted update with same error
     * Ran Quickbooks Program Diagnostic Tool, then attempted update with same error
     * Ran Quickbooks Install Diagnostic Tool, then attempted update with same error
* Installed the digital signature certificate manually from the QBW.exe and QBWPro.exe (neither resolved issue, same error exists with update attempts for the one update), even after reboot after certificate install.

Just opening it to the community to see if others are experiencing this and if there were any known resolutions? Thanks

Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022 Update Error 15222

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, ttatum94. I appreciate your detailed information and screenshot.

Since you've already performed each of our recommended troubleshooting processes from the Fix error 15XXX when updating article, but are still encountering a 15222 error, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research with you, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

They can be reached while using QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. In your top menu bar, go to Help, then QuickBooks Desktop Help.

  2. Click Contact Us.

  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in our Ask a question (or tell us what's wrong) field, then hit Continue.

  4. Select We’ll contact you for a callback or Message Us to start an instant messaging session.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

If there's any additional questions, I'm just a post away. Have a lovely day!

Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022 Update Error 15222

Hello @ttatum94

You've exhausted every conventional "solution" to this issue. We've had multiple experiences with this issue and do not recommend downloading updates from within the client.

A simplified and different approach is to:

  • Get to the point where you have a download link.

  • Click on "Get the latest updates."

  • Run the executable file.

Let us know if this fixed your issue!

Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2022 Update Error 15222

Thank You for that alternate update method suggestion.  We tried that avenue as well and had limited success. It worked on one computer, but on the other, it remained at an earlier revision that what the update should have placed it at. The update runs without error, but after a reboot when looking at the client install version (seen in product info window Ctrl+1), it still showed an earlier client revision number.  At this point we are scheduling an internal upgrade to move to 2023.  From reading through various material, it seems that the 2023 version may be better suited for our Windows 11 environment.  We have tested the client install on one of our lesser used computers and it seemed to successfully install and update with that version. Due to some other projects we are a few weeks away from completing this task on the server and updating our client computers.  If there is a known list of pertinent unresolved issues in Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus 2023 please let us know.  Additionally if there are any posted upgrade guides to move from 2022 to 2023, that is welcome too.

Thank you again for sharing this alternate update method, it was helpful and will certainly be added to our preferred update process moving forward.
