Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus for Mac 2024: Importing QB2016 files to QB2024 ?

Yes, @Frankc23. You can move your 2016 files to the 2024 version. Just create a backup copy of your QuickBooks Mac 2016 file first, then restore that backup directly in your QuickBooks 2024.

As for macOS 26 Tahoe, they are fully compatible. For more information, see the article: System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus for Mac 2024: Importing QB2016 files to QB2024 ?

Hi there, Frank. Yes, you can absolutely have the support team handle the migration for you at no additional charge if you are subscribed to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Mac Plus 2024.

While the team doesn't generally take your files to convert them offline, they provide a more secure alternative. If you have that active subscription, an agent will join you in a remote screen-share session to assist you doing the technical work directly on your computer.

If you are currently using the standalone 2016 software, you don't have access to this service because it is a discontinued product. Upgrading to the 2024 subscription acts as your service contract, giving you the professional help needed to bridge that eight-year data gap safely.

@Frankc23

QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus or QB Desktop 2024 Mac Plus?

I am not sure there is QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus for Mac.

Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus for Mac 2024: Importing QB2016 files to QB2024 ?

Erika - sorry to ask again, but the company selling me the product is saying that to import a QB 2016 data file to Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus for Mac 2024 requires a mid-step of either using a Windows version for conversion OR using a Quickbooks Mac 2019 application for conversion first/then import to to QB Mac 2024.

Are you certain I can import a Quickbooks Mac 2016 data file directly into Quickbooks Mac 2024?

Thank you!

Quickbooks Desktop Pro Plus for Mac 2024: Importing QB2016 files to QB2024 ?

Hi Frank, I'll take care of this question on behalf of Erika. A 2016 file can indeed be imported directly. However, the safest and most recommended path is to use an intermediate step or to have our live support team handle the migration for you. Following these steps reduces the risks associated with file conversion and ensures that your complete accounting history remains intact.

I’ll keep this thread open for any updates or anything else you’d like to share.

So if I can't do the 2016 data migration to 2024 directly, are you saying the live support team will take my files, do the migration to a file format 2024 will import, and send them back to me? At no charge?

You have two different paths:
1. QB Desktop 2016 Pro > QB Desktop 2019/2020 Pro > QB Desktop 2024 Pro Plus > QB Desktop 2024 Mac Plus

2. QB Desktop 2016 Pro > QB Desktop 2016 Mac > QB Desktop 2024 Mac Plus

Import process went smoothly.

I just launched QB 2024, chose Open Company, then selected the QB2016 backup .dmg file to open, and it handled the transfer in seconds. No intermediary or Support help required.
