QuickBooks Enterprise Updated on Server but Workstation gets a 503 error while trying to update

We have successfully installed the latest update to QuickBooks Enterprise 2024 on our server.  When we try to run the update on a workstation, we are getting a 503 error within the Update Now window.  Can someone point me to a possible solution for this other than contacting the help desk.

From what I found with a quick search within the QuickBooks Resources, this has to do with Company files which doesn't make since, since the application isn't updating.

Could a possible solution be the Shared Download function within the Automatic Updates window?

QuickBooks Enterprise Updated on Server but Workstation gets a 503 error while trying to update

Hello there, Hampton.

I'll share some troubleshooting steps to fix this error 503 you've encountered when trying to run an update for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) on a workstation.

When users access the QuickBooks company file remotely, encounter server overload, or use a corrupted company file, they may encounter Error 503. It can also be due to poor internet connectivity and firewalls.

To troubleshoot this issue, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Review your internet connectivity.
  2. Turn off the Firewall or Security Software.
  3. Restart the QuickBooks servers and workstations.
  4. Recover and repair your QuickBooks installation.

For detailed ways to overcome QBDT update errors, you can check out this article: Fix QuickBooks Desktop Update Errors.
