Became an easy fix for me. I work with multiple version of QB and many files. I was getting the error message no matter what version I opened. What I surmised from all the posts is that QB scans all data files when opening and one bad file can cause the error. I removed the file I was attempting to open when I first got the error message by moving it to a thumb drive. Now I am able to open any version of QB with no error message. Fortunately for me I don't need the file so I don't need to attempt rebuilding the data or get an uncorrupted copy from a backup. Also, I saved the huge bucks QB support was trying to push on me to pay to fix.

It might be that the virus is on all machines across your net work and if you clear only the main one they could still shoot from the other ones on your workstation and it’ll bring it to the main server so you literally have to use that program at once through all and then get a legit QuickBooks from a different source an email through qb agent to sent it to you or something like that don’t use the one through the manager

The problem returned to only one computer, i contacted customer support and of coarse the first thing she sugested was to do what the scam pop upo sugested. i gave her the old case number on what was done, she asked to give me a call tomorrow, as is we pay quickbooks 3 doillars for a service.

The problem came back on 1 computer also. Have no idea, unless I redo all machines and get a fresh exe install from qb email but if it’s in the main file itself then the backup company and redoing the machines are pointless.

Mine was the only one with the issue. We had ordered new computers in to replace a few older computers. I booted up my info on one of them and no errors have occurred. I believe it was just centered to that computer only. So far my issue has been fixed.

I took the time to go into the registry and delete anything that said quickbooks or intuit, so far, the issue has stayed at bay if not ill just reload windows and call it a day.

Hi So I had this exact problem sat for 2 days trying to figure it out so turns out this is some sort of Hijack tool and as far as I can tell it got loaded with a QB update.

Noticed a icon in my system tray called QB update found that strange checked through my processes and found a running process called "Quickbooks (32bit)" traced that to the folder location and found it was a tool loaded under Public user Documents folder some sort of Script that runs on startup and opens this error every time you open QB.

So just end the random process and delete this "Intuit" folder created under your Public user documents folder and problem solved

Same issue l though when I called the # I thought it was intuit and they removed into my computer.   So even if I go through these processes I feel as though I'm screwed.  Funny how I find this posting through QuickBooks yet via phone and chat no one brought this up to me from QuickBooks support yet here it is here.  Have no clue where to go from here

I'll ask for further information first to isolate this and provide you with the best solution.

Let me clarify if you're also getting an error pop-up every time you log in. If so, there's a possibility that you have a virus on your network. Can you please provide us with the exact error message? Are you also using a new computer? If not, did it also happen on the previous QuickBooks versions?

If you haven't done yet, try to download a clean copy of your QuickBooks Desktop. Then, uninstall what's on your device. Once done, install the new copy.

If QuickBooks installs seamlessly and you're getting the error upon opening the company file, I suggest using the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This helps resolve any common issues in QBDT. See this guide and go to the #2 section of Step 1 to download the Tool Hub: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor.

I'll also add this helpful link about fixing commonly known data issues on the company file: Verify and Rebuild Data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Keep in touch so we can assist you further regarding this or QuickBooks in particular. We'll do our best to respond as soon as we can. Take care!
