Conversion from Quickbooks Enterprise to Online Advanced

Hello,

I am interested in converting from Quickbooks Enterprise to Online Advanced but I'm concerned about the conversion and potential downfalls to the online version.  I would like to hear from someone who has done this same conversion and get information regarding your experience and your opinion of the online version vs Enterprise.  Thank you!

Do you have any specific reasons to consider migrating your data to QBO? How many user licenses do you currently have in QBD Enterprise and how long have you been using them?

We currently have 4 users and we've been using Enterprise for many years.  The interest in converting to the online version is an IT issue so I don't know the specifics.  We have 2 users that work remotely and I believe that might be one of the issues.  We have problems with getting kicked out of Enterprise multiple times a day.  We have very tight security because we're a financial institution and I'm being told that the online version might be the best fit for us.  Is there some reason you feel we shouldn't migrate to OBO?

How do those 2 users access your files remotely? You have 4 users. Why did you purchase QB Desktop Enterprise, not QB Desktop Premier?

What do you mean with "getting kick out" ?

This is from my IT department:

Remote users are establishing a VPN connection back to our network and running QuickBooks through Windows RemoteApp (which is essentially a remote desktop session).

We have had reports of users getting kicked off both on and off network.  We have done all troubleshooting provided by Intuit and run all network diagnostic tools and everything shows that the installation and network are compliant with program requirements.

The reasoning to explore the Online version is twofold:

1) The enterprise version adds network complexity and becomes more difficult to use when off network through remote desktop sessions.

2) We've found it is also a high maintenance application and is highly susceptible to data corruption even with basic program updates.  It is also one of the few remaining services that is not cloud hosted and is currently the highest risk item in our disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

From your technical point of view, they would rather you migrate to QB Online. Their liability will be much lower. The real question is what about you? QB Desktop has more features than QB Online. Once you decide to migrate to QB Online, you may need a third-party application to integrate with it.

My company is in the same boat as you, and interested in Online Advanced (not standard QBO) for much of the same reason.

Since the update of Enterprise 22, we now have a machine that is unable to access our company file in multi-user mode. Mind you, this machine had ZERO issues connecting prior to the update to version 22. We have 4 users, and 3 machines. We had issues with 2 of the 3 machines after the ver 22 update, but we were able to get one of them to connect via multi-user again. I was on with technical support for almost 3 hours two days ago, and was unable to get the 3rd machine to connect to the file via multi-user. We are also experiencing the same issue with being "kicked off" of the file in the middle of the day while working. We are conatantly having to click the 'Abort' button on the message screen that pops up.

Running the file doctor and database manager does nothing to solve the problem.

We are exploring the option of moving to Online Advanced as well because of the constant issues, but are also concerned with what the differences may be between the two.

@Fadco

Utilize the trial period of this app to isolate the issue.
