Trying to bring over physical invoices from another program to match receivables balance. Our idea was to create the invoice with an item where we could just put the reveivales balance but I cannot creat an item that will allow posting to A/R.....no liability or asset account just sales account
Welcome to QuickBooks Community, @Vivver1. I'll be happy to share details about the account associated with a sales item in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
When you create a sales item in QBDT, you need to assign it to an income account to track the revenue it generates. Doing so makes it easier to monitor your business income and expenses, and generate accurate financial reports. Additionally, it helps check your sales performance by comparing them to your revenue.
Moreover, the Accounts Receivable (A/R) is one of the special accounts created by QuickBooks. By default, the system posts all sales entries, such as invoices, to this account. That said, you don't need to assign it manually to A/R because the program automates this process for you.
For your future guide, I'm sharing this reference so you can seamlessly track your sales using predefined reports in QBDT: Customize customer, job, and sales reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
Keep me posted on your invoice-related concerns by leaving a reply below. I'll be sure to get back to you promptly to address your queries. Take care and have a good one!
Sale was already made. We were just trying to move the balances already in AR over to the new system from another program. Thank you though.
