Join nowWhen I try to enter the product serial numbers the boxes for input wont accept all the numbers.
Hi there, @Jon9.
I'm here to help add serial numbers successfully in QuickBooks Deskop (QBDT).
Make sure to have a unique serial number per items and your serial number doesn't exceed the limits with the maximum of 40 characters/numbers. It's possible that the serial numbers exceeds the maximum limits so QBDT won't accept the numbers you've entered.
For additional reference about using serial numbers in QBDT, you may check this article: Use Serial or Lot Numbers.
Feel free to add a comment below if you have any other concerns about adding serial numbers in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help!
Our product serial numbers are only 10 characters long. If we try to receive more than 250 serial numbers, QBDT will not accept it. In our case, we need to enter 5000 serial numbers at one time. Is there a way we can do that at once or do we need to break it down into 20 different item receipts?
Hi gbbentley,
For now, you can copy and paste serial numbers from Excel or a comma delimited file. I've got this article that includes the steps: Use Serial or Lot Numbers.
You may also choose to not enter them all in QuickBooks right away. You can continue with your current method of tracking while slowly entering all the newly purchased or assembled items with serial numbers as you acquire them.
Get back to me if you have any additional questions. Thanks.
