How to change the decimal point setting

Hi there, @sdenisekelley.

Thanks for posting in the Community. I’m here to share some information about the decimal setting in QuickBooks Online.

The default setting for decimal places in QBO is 2 places after the period. Changing this is currently unavailable.

You can only choose how the amounts are displayed in your account. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Click anywhere inside Other preferences.
  4. Choose your preferred Number format on the drop-down box.
  5. Hit Save, then Done.

See how do I set my Advanced Company Settings for more information.

That should do it. Leave a comment below if you have any other questions, I’m more than happy to help. Take care!

How to change the decimal point setting

Some of my unit prices are showing multiple decimal points eg 100.23456 and I dont understand why, if QB is set to use 2 points.

Please advise how to resolve this, I only want two decimal points to show.

How to change the decimal point setting

Hey there, NicoleZimbo.

The decimal point is set as default in the program. You can change how the amounts are displayed by adding a separator or you can use the 123,456.00 format.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top menu bar and choose Account and Settings.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab.
  3. Click anywhere inside Other preferences.
  4. Choose your preferred Number format on the drop-down box.
  5. Hit Save, then Done.

I've got some pointers if you want to know some  "How do I" steps in QuickBooks:
