Just signed up for the online version. My organization has been using QB2012 desktop version for the past decade. How would we go about importing the data from our QBPro2012? Should I just go for it or is there another process?
Hi @lmvac18. I'll help migrate your data.
Migrating your data from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2012 to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a big leap of conversion. With QBDT's 3-year life cycle of its company data, upgrading it to the latest versions is a must before the migration process.
Therefore, let's download first a trial version of QBDT 2015, QBDT 2018, and QBDT 2021 then upgrade your company data. Use the following links below for the steps:
Once done upgrading, follow the steps in this article and use the migration tool to convert your company data: How to Import QuickBooks Desktop Company File to QuickBooks Online?
I'll also include this reference to learn more about steps you should take after you move your file and make sure your data is ready to go: What to do after Moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online?
I've got you covered if you need further assistance with the migration or if you've got questions while working with the new version of QuickBooks. Take care always!
