New QB 2021 install and setup in multi-user mode

Hi there, @arctric1.

I'm glad to hear that everything else is working fine. Allow me to share where to find the saved printer settings.

The QBPrint.qbp file is stored at C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20xx (20xx represents the version of your QuickBooks). You might also need to display hidden files and folders or search for files using Windows to find this file.

If in case you're having trouble printing from QuickBooks, you can follow this awesome guide on how to fix it: Resolve Printing Issues.

New QB 2021 install and setup in multi-user mode

Thank you for replying to the thread, @Samvlight. I can think of some ways how you can access company files from the server.

If you prefer to access the file over a secure internet connection from any location or device, I suggest utilizing a hosting service

On the other hand, I'll walk you through how to open a company file located on a remote computer. You'll have to first install the QuickBooks Database Manager on the remote computer. This makes it possible to set up the QuickBooks Server for multiple user access. Here's how:

  1. Open the main computer, then download & Install QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. On the File menu, choose Switch to Multi-user Mode.
  3. Click on Yes in the Multi-user hosting setup required window.
  4. Hit OK on the Multi-user setup information page.
  5. Enter the necessary users by clicking on Company and choosing Users then Set up Users and Roles and then choosing New.

If needed, you can have the Network Discovery turned on. Lastly, here's how you can open the company file:

  1. Click on the File menu, and hit Open or Restore Company.
  2. Choose Open a company file, then click on Next.
  3. Find the location of the company file.
  4. Click on the company file (with file extension .qbw) from the list and hit Open.
  5. If asked, fill in your user name and password.
