Good afternoon, craigmichael2.
Congrats on making your first post in the Community. I'm here to clarify the new features added and to assist with closing the pop ups that are generated in your account.
QuickBooks recently updated the software to improve the product for our customers. The pop ups are designed to guide and suggest you on how to optimize your QuickBooks. However, there's a way to close them out. Here's how:
1. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
2. Choose the General menu.
3. Click the My Preferences tab.
4. Check the Turn off pop-up messages for products and services box.
5. Press OK.
This is a link that can provide you with more information on what's new in QuickBooks Online: October 2019.
You'll now be able to run your business without any pop ups. If you have any other questions feel free to reply below. Have a wonderful day.
I'm not finding an edit menu in QBO. Very poor advise from Candice C (QuickBooks Team). Probably a robot and not a human that emailed me.
I'm here to assist you, craigmichael2.
Intuit updated the interface of QuickBooks Online to make it more user-friendly. This update also provides new features and other improvements. You can check the other innovations through these links:
In addition to the pop-ups, you can click on the X button. This will make the ads disappear permanently. One of the purpose of the ads is to notify other users about the new services of Intuit. Although, I can send feedback to our developers to stop the ads.
I'll be right here if you need anything else.
"In addition to the pop-ups, you can click on the X button. This will make the ads disappear permanently"... more garbage advise from the "QuickBooks Team" AlexV. It only works on that targeted pop up. New pop ups will still happen. Probably a robot and not a human that emailed me. If it wasn't a robot it would now how to answer the question sensibly.
Why does quickbooks think their customers want to be interrupted by pop-ups. They think that moving/changing to the "+ New" button on the left was a great improvement. What a waste of time and expense to simply make a change for the sake of change. This is what happens when a company is driven by the sales and marketing department instead of a mature product driven management team. Imagine moving around the auto mechanics tools while he is working on your car. Oh, and don't forget to keep interrupting your auto mechanic with sales people while he is working on your car. Quickbooks was better when they focused on the program instead of telling you how to manipulate your finances.
Hi there, craigmichael2.
I appreciate you for sharing your experience and feedback about the pop ups and the new workflow in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Currently, we're unable to turn off the pop-ups permanently. The ads in QuickBooks are designed to guide and suggest you how to optimize your QuickBooks Online experience.
A suggestion like this is very important for us to know how we can be even better. Rest assured, I'll take note of your request and will update you once we receive product enhancement about removing the pop-ups offers.
In the meantime, you can click on the X or No, thanks buttons to prevent the pop-ups from showing up again.
Also, I'd encourage you to visit our blog for updates on our latest news and upgrades, including product improvements: QuickBooks Online Blog. From there, you can also check for related articles and accountant advice that you can use while working with QuickBooks.

What a joke... "optimize your QuickBooks Online experience". Must be another pre-programmed response written by the sales and marketing department in an extremely poor effort to distract the customer and make this problem sound like something good. Sounds to me like quickbooks is in denial about the poor quality of their product.
Why did it take three responses and false suggestions to answer with "Currently, we're unable to turn off the pop-ups permanently". It must have been that you desired to waste more of my time with lies about being able to turn the popups off. Why do you keep answering your customers as if they are stupid and don't see through all the quickbooks bull-oney that your sales and marketing department generates.
Since when does the word optimize mean interrupting and changing the environment of your customer? Do you remember the customer, you actually work for the customer. How about you simply let the customer do their work?
Who was it at quickbooks that decided that quickbooks needed to tell their customers how to "optimize" on a continually interuptive basis? I'm not looking to have an experience, I'm trying to get work done.
The way it appears right now, quickbooks couldnt optimize their way out of the dark. Even the name is now an oxymoron... quick what?
Where is this edit button to stop the popups?
I have multiple issues with QB on line. Being a college educated Business major with a programming minor gives me some insight on several issues. I am eventually going to find time to let you know what I think about several things and my needs as a QB user. I think your programmers have had ample time to turn off these popups. We pay for a product, not advertising interrupting our work flow.
Do you realize just how much productivity is wasted world wide because of the popups? Do the math and see what it costs just my company to have to deal with this matter.
Send your sales pitches via emails not in the product.
This is my second note - the first did not get approved, evidently.
I thank you for sharing your feedback, @tuckeriron.
The popup serves as a guide to help you navigate the program's new feature. Currently, there isn't a way to permanently turn off the add.
For now, the only way to get rid of the advertisements is by manually closing them through the X sign or the No thanks option. Also, you can modify your Marketing Preferences in your account to stop receiving ads in your email and phone.
Here's how:
Lastly, you can visit our QuickBooks Online Blog to check for the latest feature added to the application.

What an absolute bunch of garbage - I'm just (if not more) frustrated than your other users in this thread. I'm dealing with incessant pop ups with QBO suggesting WITH EVERY INVOICE I CREATE whether I want it to be a 'recurring' invoice.
I. DO. NOT.
Not now. NOT EVER.
I need an option to get this time and money wasting advertising out of my face and my workflow IMMEDIATELY.
