prevous instance of quickbooks scan manager seems to be frozen

Every time I try to scan, it says scanning but it is not working. I did a connection test and I received the message "previous instance of quickbooks scan manager seems to be frozen" but I can't find an answer on how to fix this.

Thanks for reaching out to us, @Roaddogs. I'll be happy to guide you over some troubleshooting options so you can continue using your Scan Manager in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

 

In QBDT 2022, we've already discontinued the Scan Manager. However, you can still use it in previous, currently supported versions. Please see this link for the list of compatible scanners: TWAIN-compliant scanners.

 

For older versions, please refer to the resolution below:

 

  1. Test your scanner outside of QBDT to ensure it's working properly. If it's not functioning, we suggest contacting the scanner manufacturer or an IT expert to resolve this.
  2. If the issue persists, delete your scan profile and create a new one before trying again.
  3. Change user account settings in Windows.
  4. Repair QBDT, and then scan again.
  5. Reinstall using a clean installset up QuickBooks Scan Manager, and test again.

 

It's also possible that the driver or component is damaged or corrupted. That said, I suggest updating them to boost their performance. To do that, please reach out to the Microsoft team for further assistance.
