Join nowHello all, I'm having difficulty on a windows 10 computer updating quick books. I have tried the diagnostic tool, I have tried a clean reinstall as well as a repair to quick books but the same result.
Unable to install the new update. .
I launch QB, then the attached pops up, i press install now, it goes to "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device," I press YES.
Then I wait, absolutely nothing happens. Any suggestions?
Thank you
Among the various things you've tried, have you checked the Reset Update? Go to Help; Update QuickBooks Desktop. Click on the Update Now tab and then Check the box next to Reset Updates.
Then when you click on Get Updates QBs should download everything again.
The other thing you can try is to manually clean out the downloaded updates. For QB2016 I believe you want to go to:
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 2016\Components\DownloadQB26
Assuming that is where you find DownloadQB26 on your computer, with QBs closed, rename that folder (e.g. ...\DownloadQB26XX). Then launch QBs and try the updates again.
Thank you, I have tried both of those ideas. I had no luck on either.
Thank you, Unfortunately no luck with either possibility.
Thanks for coming back to this thread, AlmliComm.

It should be noted that QB 2016 reaches end of life in 3 months = May 2019. Intuit has a 3-year lifecycle. That program is falling further and further behind compatibility with W10, since W10 gets updates at least twice a month.
QB 2019 has been out for over 6 months already; that means it still has More than 3-years life remaining. It was released for W10, not as something being updated over the years to try to stay compatible with W10.
There is no reason to struggle with QB 2016, now. It is time to move to QB 2019.
