We're having trouble backing up (files are damaged)
My question is this:
What is the difference between making a Backup or a portable company file? (Can I consider the latter as a backup in case of a problem in QuickBooks?).


We are also subscribed to the QuickBooks online automatic backup platform. Is this enough to keep a safe copy of our files in case of a problem with QuickBooks?

Have you upgraded your company file to QBD 2023?

If you still can't create any backup file (QBB) or portable file (QBM), your working file is damaged. You need to ask Support team to fix it. Otherwise, you may consider purchasing a 3rrd party file repair service.

Good morning
Yes, it finds errors when making a Backup.
The backup is being done on an external drive, we are also doing a backup through Qb online services (in the cloud).
Is this copy enough to keep the files safe in case our system is damaged?

Since every time we make an external copy it gives errors and if we continue to Backup the files get damaged, it is the second time that Qb technicians have had to fix damaged files.

Yes, we updated Qb Desktop Pro Plus 2023. It is the second time that the files are damaged when making the backup (external disk)
We also do Online (in the cloud) which so far has not given any problems

The size of your file is the root cause. You need to condense it or upgrade your version to QBD Enterprise. You can buy a license through a partner to get a 20% perpetual discount.

How can I restore a file from an online Backup?

Thanks for returning to this thread, @BSDUSA. I've come to assist you with restoring a file from an online backup in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

 

Intuit Data Protect (IDP) is an online backup solution. You have the option of backing up your entire computer or just your QBDT data. Once configured, it automatically stores your information every day.

 

Let's open your IDP and select the files you need to recover. To do that:

 

  1. Find the IDP icon (green padlock) in the Windows System Tray, typically located at the bottom right of the screen.
  2. Right-click the IDP icon and select Open Intuit Data Protect.
  3. Click Restore from Backup.
  4. Select the files you need to restore. You will see all the versions of your files available for restoration.
  5. Click Continue and Restore.

To alter the message from the email forwarding to your vendors or customer, we can go to your company preferences to make the amendments.

 

Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  2. From the side menu select Send Forms.
  3. From there, navigate to the Company Preferences tab.
  4. Click the dropdown to choose what transaction template to edit.
  5. Choose the transaction type you want to change the email template.
  6. Tap the Edit button.
  7. In the Edit Email Template, you can change the message enter or leave it blank if you prefer.
  8. Lastly, click Save.
