Buy nowQuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 version R15_81 on Windows has suddenly become extremely slow starting on Aug 22.
QBDT takes more than 10 min to open even small company files with minimal number of transactions (less than 10) and small Chart of Accounts. Even after taking many minutes to load a small company file, QBDT is still extremely slow to respond to any actions, like clicking anything on the menu bar on the top like File or Help. Tried this with various company files so it is not an issue with 1 file in particular.
Solutions mentioned on the QuickBooks forums that we tried and that did NOT work:
-Reinstalling QBDT Pro 2024 using an old QBDT installer, which installs version R15_27. But QBDT was extremely slow even on this old version of R15_27.
-As version R15_27 was extremely slow, we then updated to version R15_81 by selecting Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop with "Reset" option selected. QBDT still extremely slow after updating to version R15_81.
-THEN, as the previous options didn't work, we repaired the software by selecting Control Panel > Uninstall a program > Quickbooks Desktop Pro 2024 > Repair. QBDT still extremely slow after "Repairing" the software.
-We do not use Attachments with QBDT so there was no Attachments folder to move as a troubleshooting option.
Please advise as it is currently impossible to work within QuickBooks Pro 2024.
Hi, aparker7.
Thank you for your effort in executing the troubleshooting you outlined to resolve the program's performance issue. I've got some tips to fix the issue and the next step you can do if the issue remains.
To start, ensure your computer meets the system requirements, including additional RAM, and verify your anti-malware or antivirus software's compatibility settings. Check if your computer has sufficient storage to run the software smoothly and efficiently. You can also install and log in to your QuickBooks Desktop account on another computer to troubleshoot the issue using other hardware.
If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our live experts to determine the possible reason for the program's unexpected behavior and guide you on the next actions.
Follow the steps below:
You can also count on me if you need help with doing any QuickBooks-related tasks. Add them below, and I'll be right here to assist you promptly.
We have already tried the solutions you suggest
1. Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub (we are on version 1.6.0.8 of QuickBooks Tool Hub)
2. QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool
3. rename the QBWUSER.ini file
NONE of these solutions worked.
Our system meets the requirements for QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024.
QBDT 2024 started acting extremely slow on August 22—our system did not change on August 22 or on the day before. QBDT 2024 was working fine the day before August 22. All other applications on our system are working fine.
On a fresh reinstallation of QBDT (version R15_27), QBDT has good responsiveness UNTIL we try to open a small company file that is less than 15 MB in size. QBDT takes about 5 minutes to open the file.
Given this, we are confident this issue is due to a new bug in QBDT’s software.
Adding to my previous message, we just tried AGAIN to go from a fresh install of QBTD version R15_27 to version R15_82 (looks like R15_82 is latest version, not _81).
We did this by selecting Help > Update QuickBooks Desktop with "Reset" option selected.
After upgrading to version R15_82, to follow the other suggestions on the QB forums, we repaired the software by selecting Control Panel > Uninstall a program > QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2024 > Repair.
HOWEVER, after running the Repair step, QBDT's license info shows it has been downgraded back to version R15_27!!!!
It doesn’t seem like “Repairing” from the Control Panel should downgrade QBDT to the previous version.
Can you please advise.
