Want to migrate my client's Quickbooks OnlinePlus to Quickbooks Accountant Desktop 2021 will I be able to transfer and view files with the desktop version? Also, is there any advantage to using Quickbooks Accountant Desktop 2021 versus the QuickBooks regular desktop 2021 version?
Hello, @Mari-HI.
Let me help you transfer your data from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Please note that when you switch from QBO to QBDT, you can invite their accountant as an external user. This lets their accountant access their company file without the need to sign in as admin.
Furthermore, they can create and send an accountant's copy so their accountant can review their books and make the changes.
Moreover, to address your second question, yes, QuickBooks Accountant Desktop 2021 offers specialized features and tools that are specifically designed to meet the needs of accounting professionals, providing enhanced efficiency, client visibility, and support for multiple clients.
For further guidelines, please see this article: Move your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop.
In addition, you can visit this article to see what files can be imported inside QBDT: Import and export data in QuickBooks Desktop.
Please let me know if you need further assistance with the migration process. I'm always around to provide answers and clarifications to your questions. Have a great day ahead, and take care.
I have another thought. What if I have two online accounts for the same company using two different email addresses? Given that I've read that desktop versions will no longer be supported in 2024 I was wondering if it would be better to have 2 online accounts until I have successfully secured all of our data onto a safe drive.
I plan to use one account just for data reference and not link our bank and credit card accounts and the other will be used as our new account profile.
Your thoughts?
Hello there, Mari-HI.
I'm glad to hear that you're considering using one account solely for data reference and not connecting your bank and credit card accounts. This will surely enhance the security of your financial information.
Maintaining two online accounts using different email addresses for the same company can be a wise strategy. It allows you to keep your data separate and ensures a seamless transition to the desktop platform.
Regarding the discontinuation of the desktop platform, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is here to stay and will not be discontinued anytime soon. However, there will be a change in the availability of certain products for new U.S. subscribers after July 31, 2024. Please take a look at the details provided below:
