Upgrading to Version 22 Enterprise/Contractor

Hi,

I am installing the newer version of Enterprise/Contractor edition for a client. Moving from V.2021 to V.2022 and I've installed the Server Manager on the Server. When loading the server only some versions say they are running. 2022 is not one of them. I've ran the file doctor, I have ran the QB Tools Hub if I recall the name. The doctor said there are no problems while the Manager clearly states problems.

When I ran the QB program on a local system and tried Multi-User mode, the error of being hosted remotely comes up. Ive had experiences in the past where even if the file is located on a shared drive QB still allowed Mutli-User mode or maybe I am dreaming but I thought it did. Nonetheless, I am having some issues moving to V.2022.

I also wanted to point out something I thought was interesting. When I moved to V.2022, I can open the program and database per machine in single user mode except the server. I can't open the file directly on the server using the QB V.2022 Application.

I also want to point out that I don't recall an update request to move from 2021 to 2022 but I may be frustrated and simply don't remember but I can state that when I went back to 2021 and opened the file it seemed to open without issues. But again, I may be frustrated and moved files to get them working on 2021 again.

I know I haven't ran into something like this in the past. Was pretty easy but any assistance or new tricks to try would be kindly accepted.

Thank you,
Brad

Upgrading to Version 22 Enterprise/Contractor

I'll make sure you run your client's company file over a network with Database Server Manager in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @BChism.

Based on your description of the issue above, I can tell that you've upgraded to QBDT 2022 appropriately. Since you're able to open your client's company file on a single-user mode, the issue is with the Database Server Manager.

With that being said, you'll have to scan your client's company files (that includes setting up your folder and Windows access permissions) so you can access them from other computers on your network. To do this, here's how:

  1. On your server computer (the one that hosts your company files), open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Type Database into the search and open QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
  3. Go to the Scan Folders tab and set your folder permission.
  4. Select Browse. Then select the folders that hold your company files (QBW).
  5. Select OK when you're finished. 81.PNG
  6. When you’re ready, select Start Scan.

When the scan finishes, the folders appear in the QuickBooks company files found section. Then, you can now access the company files in these folders from other computers on your network.

Once you're done, you'll have to monitor your drives and manage Database Server Manager. I would recommend changing your firewall settings to make sure your client's company file run on the server. For the step-by-step guide, please refer to this article: Use QuickBooks Database Server Manager.

Also, to know more about the tasks that can be performed in multi-user mode and further guide you in managing your client's account, I would encourage you to check out the article and Help page below:

Please keep me posted if you have other concerns about upgrading to a newer version of QBDT and using the QuickBooks Database Server Manager. I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @BChism.
