Will Quickbooks 2024 open my 2010 company file?
I have had to purchase a new computer and cannot install Quickbooks 2010 on the new system - it will not activate and is no longer supported
If I upgrade the software will my current company file open on the new 2024 version?
I have had my accountant try and open the file and they are having difficulties in opening the file?
Thanks for posting here, @pelli69.
Let me help you install your 2010 company file once you upgrade to the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2024 version.
If you have a portable copy of the file, you can open your 2010 company file in QBDT 2024. If you don't have it or it doesn't work, you can perform the 3-year interval bridging process to update the file to make it compatible with the 2024 version.
First off, you'll need to get trial versions of QBDT 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2022, then 2024 to achieve this.
You can follow these steps once you reach in 2024:
Feel free to read this article for more info: Update your company files to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
If you can't open the file, I recommend contacting customer support. They can further help you update your company file so you can access it in the 2024 version.
Additionally, you can read this article to learn more about what company files are compatible with QBDT: Company file compatibility with QuickBooks Desktop when upgrading.

You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for assistance. They can help to upgrade your company file. They can also help to obtain a new legit license of QBD 2024 + you can get $100 cashback. You can ask to pay them for the license after you run the program without any issue on your machine.
Thanks for that suggestion - sorry but for $1000US to convert the file that is way out of my league
Sorry but at $1000US to convert my existing file this is not an option for me
I know Fiat Lux but it costs a lot just to upgrade a company file. Do you have a damaged file?
No the file worked perfectly in 2010. But due to computer needing replacement and I cannot activate 2010 on the new system. 2024 version will not open the 2010 company file
$1000US is out of my budget sorry. I will discuss alternatives with my accountant. Thank you for your time
Converting data between country versions is not cheap. Fiat Lux will convert your data manually and it takes time. Can you run QB Desktop 2010 in the trial mode on your new machine?
yes for a limited amount of times
You should contact Fiat Lux again to keep using your QB Desktop 2010 with a workaround.
its still too expensive - he wants $500 USD
I am not transferring that amount of cash to someone on the other side of the world that I have just got details from an online forum
