Upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) software is easy, @LCR3. I'm here to guide you on how.
To start upgrading, ensure that you already purchased your new QBDT version. If you haven't yet, you can reach out to our Sales Support team to get one. Once ready, refer to the following steps:
- Start with installing your new QBDT version by going to the Downloads & Updates page.
- In the Express setup window, click Download.
- Next, select the Let's Get Started button.
- From there, choose either Business email or License number (if you select this, make sure to pick the correct email address on the next page) and supply the information.
- Click Search and select Continue to receive an OTP.
- Enter the digits and click Submit.
- Then, look for your new QBDT version and select Install
- Once finished, select Open QuickBooks and activate it.

This process won't put your accounting info online unless you use the online backup (Intuit Data Protect). That said, you still have to upgrade your company file so you can use it on your newer QBDT version.
