Join nowI currently have an older Imac computer which is running Mohave operating system, and I am using Quickbooks 2017 for Mac. I would like to upgrade computer but do not want to lose the historical financial data through this upgrade. What is the newest operating system that works with Quickbooks 2017?
Welcome to the Community, Billy!
I'm here to help you with your QuickBooks Desktop for Mac (QBDT Mac) version.
I wanted to let you know that the QBDT Mac 2017 version is unavailable. The first version was released in 2016, followed by the 2019 version. You may find it helpful to review the system requirements in either the QuickBooks for Mac 2016 User’s Guide or the QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2019 User’s Guide when considering your product options.
In addition, if you upgrade your computer, your current product version may not work because it was discontinued and is no longer supported. To ensure that you have access to the latest features and improvements, it's best to update it to the newest release.
If you have any follow-up concerns regarding your QBDT Mac version, feel free to let me know. I'd be glad to assist you further.
Your QB Desktop 2017 is outdated and does not support any version of MacOS that has been released in the last 3 years. You can purchase QB Desktop 2024 Mac to upgrade your version and run on Sonoma. Otherwise, you can use QB Desktop with a non-subscription license to run on Sonoma. Make sure to secure a backup file on your QB Desktop 2017 beforehand.
