WebConnector Add App

How to add a new App to WebConnector?

QB Instructions - https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/install-new-products/set-up-quickbooks-web-connect...

Our System

(1) QB Enterprise on Server

(2) Dedicated machine for WebConnector

(3) WC machine - QB installed, WebConnector installed

(4) WC currently runs an App, for years (although crashes now and then)

STEP 2 (in link above)

Admin login to QB and Intuit Account

- what is Intuit Account? Or is this the Company File?

1. Select File, Update Web Service then Manage Web Apps.

- In QB when I select Update Web Service it opens the WebConnector? No Manage Web Apps?

2. Select Setup... lost from this point nothing matches in QB or WebConnector

There must be some other/better instructions somewhere.

Thanks for the help.

WebConnector Add App

Thanks for sharing the steps you've performed, PermitMe.

Intuit account provides security and simplicity of using one account for all your Intuit services. Here's how to open your file using your Intuit account ID.

  1. Open your company file.
    • You’re the admin and: Select this if you’re an admin who logs in to the QuickBooks Desktop company file and manages all of the financial actions and users' roles for the company file. Then enter your Email or user ID.
    • I’m not an admin: Select this if you log in to the company file with a shared QuickBooks Desktop Admin credential. If you don't have an Intuit account, the admin can invite you to create an account.
  2. Select Continue.
  3. If you’re the admin you’ll be prompted to enter your Email or user ID, then enter your Password.
  4. Select Sign In.

As for missing steps when adding an app to Web Connector, let's run the repair tool to fix this. This tool can help fix common errors right away. Before proceeding, you'll have to ensure to create a backup copy of your file.

Once done, I suggest following these steps to run the tool:

  1. Restart your computer. This makes sure there are no programs that may affect the repair.
  2. Open the Windows Start menu, then select Control Panel.

Note: If you're using Windows 8 or 8.1, search "Control Panel" in the Windows Start menu.

  3. Select Programs and Features then Uninstall a Program.

Note: If you don't see Programs and Features, select Programs instead. Then select Program and Features.

  4. Select QuickBooks from the list of Programs, then Uninstall/Change.
  5. Select Continue, or Next.
  6. Select Repair, then Next.

Note: The repair should start right away, but it may take a while to finish. You can leave it running, and come back once it's done.

  7. Once it's done, select Finish.

Note: You may have to restart your computer to complete the repair.

  8. Update your QuickBooks to the latest release. This makes sure you have the most recent fixes and security updates.

During repair, you may get a "files in use" message, or something similar. Here's what you need to do:

  • Select Ignore. If there's a pop-up message to reboot, select OK to reboot.

Note: You might have to select Ignore a few times.

  • If you don't see the Ignore button, select Close. Once the repair is complete, restart your computer.

After the repair, you can now add an app to Web Connector.

In case you'll get an error while using Web Connector, I encourage browsing this article to learn some fixes: Resolve Common Web Connector Errors in QuickBooks Desktop.

WebConnector Add App

Thanks for the help but:
(1) Your first answer has no context and I have no idea what software/program you’re talking about.
(2) Your second answer is to repair my QuickBooks but I don’t have any problem that needs fixing.
(3) Then you point me back to the original link I had the question about?

I’m trying to add another .qwc file to my WebConnector. Below is Step 2 in the link you provided.

Step 2: Add an app to Web Connector

Make sure you log in to QuickBooks as the admin and log in to your Intuit Account. what, where, why?

If you have your .qwc file from your third-party web app, you can connect it to QuickBooks.

  1. Select File, Update web service and then Manage Web Apps. when I do "File, Update web service" it just opens my WebConnector.
  2. Select Set up next to the app you want to set up. This will take you to the app’s website where you’ll log in. Niether QB or WebConnecotr has "Set up" so none of these instructions match with my QB or QBWC from this point on.
  3. Select Connect to QuickBooks on the app website.
  4. Open QuickBooks Desktop and select Done on the Access Confirmation screen to complete your setup.

Intuit needs a dedicated page to explain all the step to add a .qwc file to the WebConnector.

(3) Select Connect to QuickBooks on the app website.
Open QuickBooks Desktop and select Done on the Access Confirmation screen to complete your setup.

Intuit needs a single page defining the step to take to add a new .qbw file.

WebConnector Add App

Let me share more details about setting up QuickBooks Web Connector, PermitMe.

The Intuit Account is not the company file. It's your account where you can manage your account, payment method, and sign-in information. If you don't have an Intuit Account yet, you can create one now.

Please check these links. These will explain more what is and the things you can do with Intuit Account:

In addition, here's how to access QuickBooks Desktop files with One Intuit Account.

When you clicked Update web service from the File menu, it opens the QuickBooks Web Connector. You'll see the Set Up button if you added your third-party app to QuickBooks. Otherwise, you'll need to click the Add an Application.

Leave a comment again if you need anything else. We'll respond as soon as we can.
