1099 processing QuickBooks Desktop with QuickBooks Online Payroll

My Client has QuickBooks Desktop and their bank switched them to QuickBooks Online Payroll.  It's time to process 1099's and I have a Contractor to add to payroll and record a check that was paid in May 2021.  I am not allowed to back date the check in QBO Payroll.  In the past, Intuit Payroll let me record old amounts when I set up the Contractor.  Am I really not able to do that in QBO Payroll?

1099 processing QuickBooks Desktop with QuickBooks Online Payroll

Hi there, @D20122. I'm here to share some ideas about trying to backdate an old paycheck in QuickBooks Online Payroll. Rest assured, I'll be here to assist you with your check concerns.

In QuickBooks Online, you can only enter payroll from the current year. This is because it's a based storage system, and we only keep records of payroll for the current year we're in.

If the system won't allow you to backdate checks, we can directly contact our payroll specialist. They can help you enter and record them correctly in your account.

Here's how:

1. Go to Help at the upper-right corner.
2. Enter the description of your concern.
3. Click Talk to a human. Then, I still need a human.
4. You can then get a callback or send a message to start a conversation with our specialist.

You'll want to consider creating paychecks manually in QuickBooks Online Payroll.
