Admin Login pop-up not appearing

Version Mac OB 2021

2 days ago when I opened QB the admin login appeared, not problem.

This morning when I went to open QB the admin login did not pop-up and I cannot open any of the company files.

The message I receive is "QBooks 2021 is marked read only.."

Anyone know what happened and how to fix?

I’ll help you resolve this so this admin login will appear again, Joey.


There are several reasons why users encounter QuickBooks is marked as read-only error. A previous user may have saved the read-only status, and the system requirements aren’t met.


Removing the read-only attribute and making sure the requirements are enough to run QuickBooks can fix and avoid this error. I’ll show you how:

 

  1. Right-click the company files that are available in the read-only format.
  2. Go to Properties and then choose the General tab window.
  3. Uncheck the Read-only box.


If the admin login didn’t appear and still you can't open any of your company files, you can run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks tools to get this resolved.


Here’s how:

 

  1. Close your QuickBooks account.
  2. Download the most recent version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub, then save the file somewhere you can easily spot it.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Pay heed to the onscreen prompts to install, then agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. When the installation completes, click the icon on the Windows desktop to open the tool hub.


Then, performs the steps to repair your QuickBooks:

 

  1. In the QuickBooks Tools Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Click Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Try to open your QuickBooks and check if the admin login popup shows up.

Thanks for getting back to us. I'll point you to the right direction to help you fix the read-only company files issue. 

 

The Tool Hub is exclusive for the Windows version. Since none of the suggested steps are working, we would want to contact one of our support agents. 

 

They'll use their tools to take a look at the company files and fix what's causing it from being marked as read-only. To contact them, click on the Help menu then select Support

 

If we can't use the Help menu, we can utilize the Contact Us website to reach one of our agents: 

 

  1. Go to https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/help/en-us/contact-us?product=QuickBooks%20Desktop.
  2. Select QuickBooks Mac as your product. 
  3. In the text box, enter something like "cannot log in" or "company files are marked as read-only."
  4. Proceed with Continue
  5. Select either the chat or the phone option.

 

Take note of the support availability times on the page to ensure your needs are catered timely.
