Something that I feel needs to be in the next upgrade for all platforms of Quick books, ie Desktop,Enterprise,Online, etc is to give the user a check number print range not just the starting check number. It would be EXTREMELY helpful to include the starting check number and the ending check number when printing out 15 or more checks at a time.
I read and re-read this, but don't get it.
How would this be more helpful than how it works now?
When you select print checks a box comes up showing the checks that are going to print out. Also at this point there is also a box that shows your starting check number. ie 18467. What would be helpful when you are printing out out a lot of checks is to show the ending number of the check which in this case would be 18501 if you had 35 checks to print. This would be useful to me and I am sure others because I have to pull off the ending number from a stack of blank checks. Having the ending number tells me immediately the last check I need to pull from my supply of blank checks. Hope that helped clear the air.
When you go to and click print checks a new dialog box pops up showing the checks you have selected to print. There is also a box to the right showing the starting number of your check. As an example the starting number might be 18467. What would be useful at this point would to show the ending number 18501 in this case if I planed on writing 35 checks. It would be useful to have this information to me and I am sure others because I have to pull X number of checks for my supply stack of blank checks. If I knew the ending number of the last check I would immediately know the last check and could look for that number ie 18501 in my supply stack of blank checks. It is easier to scan for the number then to try and count each one.
Thanks for the detailed clarification, Mean_Gene.
The option to enter the last check number you'll want to print is unavailable. The suggestion you've provided is one way we can improve our software more. I've sent feedback about this and feature updates will be posted in our QuickBooks Blog. You can also look into the What's New option within your QuickBooks Desktop company file. Just click Help and select What's New.
