Ok, well I never noticed this, but it looks like I started each new version of QB' as a new year, and NEVER from the years earlier. So now, when I try to open an old back up it doesn't work, and OR, when it did once, it wanted the old serial numbers and such, which was a bit of a pain because I also had a different password back then it turns out.
So would I have to open, import? let's say each December 31st file (assuming that's the last back up each year) from a given year, and keep doing this until I got to the current year? I'd say I'd need to do no less than 10 years?, Or is there an easier way to at least see files and information for earlier years?

If you prefer to back up your files manually, you may check out this article for the details: Back up Desktop file.
Once done, you can now use it to restore your company file.

Solution 3: Copy your backup from your flash drive or network drive before restoring it.
Solution 4: Copy a backup file to a new folder before restoring it.
Solution 5: Use the same or newer version of QuickBooks when restoring your backup.
