Bank Feeds for QuickBooks Desktop Pro

So yesterday I set up my bank feeds for both a bank account and amex account.  Today I was able to download transactions from amex, it gives me the option to download transactions, but I do not have that option for my bank account.  It says there are no transactions to review, which there are plenty, and it was last updated yesterday.  How do I get an autmatic feed going with this bank account?

Hi there, @LBoots. I can help you with downloading your bank entries on QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Usually, we can isolate this issue by updating the connection between your bank and QuickBooks through the Refresh icon.

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Go to the Banking menu.
  3. Tap on Bank Feeds, then Bank Feed Center.
  4. Choose your account and click the Refresh icon a couple of times.
  5. Or select your bank, then tap on Download Transactions.

If the transactions aren't feeding to QuickBooks automatically, you can check with your bank and verify any ongoing issues on their end. Thus, it could be the reason why your transactions are not updating in QuickBooks.

For now, you have the option to import your bank transactions transaction manually using the WebConnect process. However, this can cause duplicate transactions once the synchronizations issue is resolved. In this case, you'll need to delete those uploaded transactions.

If you still wish to import them, here’s how:

  1. Log in to your bank website and download the transactions from there.
  2. Ensure the file is in .QBO format. Other files than that won’t work.
  3. Once done, Go to the Banking menu.
  4. Select Bank Feeds, then Bank Feeds Center.
  5. From the Bank Accounts list, choose the account you want to connect.
  6. When you're ready to get your transactions, select Download Transactions.
  7. Select Synchronize
  8. Enter your PIN or password to connect to your bank.
  9. Hit OK.

Once the transactions are available in QBDT, you're now ready to categorize them. You can also keep track of your reconciliation to match your balances.

If you have any other follow-up questions while handling your bank entries, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help you again. Have a good one!

Thank you.  I hit the refresh button and it brings me to my banks login page and no option to download new transactions.  I have reached out to the bank.  I really don't want to download and upload files.

Thanks for getting back with the Community, LBoots.

Since you've already performed all of the troubleshooting steps shared by Angelyn_T and reached out to your financial institution, but transactions still aren't feeding into QuickBooks automatically, I'd recommend getting in touch with our Customer Care team.

They'll be able to pull the account up in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

They can be reached while you're signed in.

Here's how:

  1. In your top menu bar, go to Help, then QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Enter a brief description of the issue in your Ask a question (or tell us what's wrong) field.
  4. Hit Continue.
  5. Select We’ll contact you for a callback or Message Us to start an instant messaging session.

Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a lovely Friday!
