Why can i no longer tab from "business description" to "category"?   It now comes up with an option to "add a line" and will not tab through.   <UGH>

Hi there, fuelgirl!

Thank you for reaching out to us. I'd like to take this opportunity to explain and assist in creating a bill in QuickBooks Online.

When creating a bill, the Category column is always next to the Description field. The Tab key is used to switch to the next available field or column. Thus, we're unable to "tab" from Description to Category.

In addition, the Add lines button has been there for many years now and is available to other transactions too. It is used if there's a need to add an item since the default rows in creating a transaction are only two.

You can check this link: Enter bills and record bill payments in QuickBooks Online. This has detailed steps on how to record bill payments.

Would you like to run reports or do you need help entering a specific transaction in QuickBooks Online? Let me know the details and I'll gladly help you out again. Wishing you all the best!

I am well aware of how the tab button works and would not even ask the question if i didn't. Maybe if i simplify the question:

Last week I could tab through the bill.  This week I cannot.  Why?

Hello, fuelgirl.

I'd like to clarify some things about why you're unable to use the Tab key properly when recording your bills.

We have a reported issue where users are unable to use the Tab key to its intended purpose on bills. Our engineers are currently working to fix the issue and ensure you'll be able to tab through the fields properly again.

In the meantime, you'll want to use your mouse to move through the fields when creating your bill.

I would also recommend contacting our support agents to add you to the list of affected users. This way, you'll be able to receive updates regarding the Tab key issue.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click the Help icon at the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Go to the Search tab, then click the Contact Us button.
  3. In the box, type something like "Tab key is not working properly on bills."
  4. Hit Continue, then click choose how you want to reach us (phone or chat).

We'd like to do it here. However, we're unable to access your contact and account details in a public space.

You can always reply to this thread if you have more questions about recording your transactions. Need to run a specific report or want to manage your vendors? Let me know and I'll lend a hand again.

This "known" issue has yet to be resolved and has been an issue for weeks now.  How difficult can it be for Intuit engineers to figure out what it is they did to goof it up.  This is a tremendous efficiency issue for users.  Suggestion - Intuit should quit charging us their outrageous rates until they resolve issues that cost their users time.  And time = money!
