BOMS and Landed Cost

We create Bill of Materials for all of our Assmebly Items, however I noticed that the BOMS pull the item cost that we purcahse the goods at, not the landed cost. This means that our margins are wrong as the BOM is not taking into account all of the freight and duties associated with the raw goods.

Is there a way to change this?  I need the BOM to pull in the landed cost of each item.

Note: I do not want to have to update the cost on each raw good to reflect that of the landed cost because then when I write a Purchase order, the cost that is pulled in will be wrong.

BOMS and Landed Cost

We'll add the landed cost item to the bill to ensure that your margins and financial records are correct, bwmht. I'll help and make sure the process is a breeze for you.

The cost on the bill of materials is pulled from the item's Cost section rather than the landed cost. Thus, the process is working as designed, and we're unable to change it. Instead of updating the figure for every raw good, you can add the landed cost as an additional line item on the bill.

Here's how:

  1. In your company file, navigate to the Vendors menu at the top bar and select Enter Bills.
  2. Choose a vendor from the dropdown and fill in the required fields:
    • Date - The date you received the bill.
    • Amount - The total amount of the bill.
    • Due date - The due date of the bill.
  3. In the Items tab, enter the goods you're working on.
  4. Go to the next line and enter the landed cost item, like freight and duties.
  5. From there, you'll see the INCLUDES S&H COSTS section.landed cost.jpg
  6. Click the Save button to record the bill.
